Digitaler Breitbandausbau, Video-Konferenzsysteme, Home-Office und viele weitere Themen sind die Wegbereiter für mobiles Arbeiten. Der moderne Arbeitsplatz ist nicht an einen Büroraum und einen Schreibtisch gebunden. Die zeitgemäßen Anforderungen an effizientes Arbeiten bringen Lösungen wie zB die Cloud direkt ins Zentrum der täglichen Tätigkeiten. Aus diesem Grund hat sich auch der Datenschutz an diese neuen Umstände anzupassen.

In der unternehmerischen Praxis bedeutet dies, dass Lagerstätten von Daten und die Datenströme bekannt sein müssen. Erst wenn Klarheit und Transparenz über die Datenströme vorliegt, können geeignete technische und organisatorische Maßnahmen zum Schutz der personenbezogenen Daten umgesetzt werden. Dabei sollte der pragmatische Ansatz und die notwendige Flexibilität der Maßnahmen im Fokus stehen.

Es sollte weiters beachtet werden, dass die technischen Maßnahmen die Kosten nicht unnötig in die Höhe treiben. Aus diesem Grund bieten sich organisatorische Lösungen zB in Form von Vereinbarungen und Schulungen bestens an. Der Umgang mit Daten auf Papier darf auch nicht aus dem Fokus verloren werden.
